A charred run-down house
Your dreams
When we become filled with fear, we seek to cut our losses. Abandoning the dreams that lifted us up, we cut and run. Sometimes dropping a dream makes sense. If the great idea turned into a dead-end, get out quick.
Many of us fear to be abandoned. It is built into our blueprint. It's human. Being abandoned or cast out very likely meant death in human groups.. If not physical death, then surely psychological or emotional. The scars run deep.
When it is not working, it is not working. One must abandon her dreams. As hard as it is to admit defeat. But sometimes the defeat is not real, merely a fear of defeat. I find getting quiet, taking some space to consider, helps to tease apart what is real and what is just an echo of an old wound. How can we choose something different for our lives if we keep replaying the same movie of our life?
No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man. ~Heraclitus
