In-person movement classes help keep us on track with improving or maintaining our health. They create a structure for the habit of exercise. Accountability and habit. Perhaps your class is at 5:00 PM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You create a structure, a habit, to put on your exercise clothes at 4:30 PM and head to the class. You build your day, your week, around the structure. What do you do when the structure evaporates into Covid Land?
Creating your own structure is harder, but not impossible. It requires discipline and determination. You can create your own class of one in your living room, with you starring as both teacher and student. Or join one of the multitude of on-line classes which allow you to work synchronously with a teacher and other students. Or you could workout using many free YouTube videos.
Setting an alarm for the start of your class helps you get there. Or paying for an on-line class so you feel the pressure of waste to keep you accountable. Or promising to be there to a buddy. Something to put you on the hook. To help reinforce this good habit. An investment in your future body and bright spirit.
