I meet the ground
Tucked and starting to roll
In backward somersault
My round shape absorbs the impact of being thrown
It took months of daily training to pattern that response into my muscle memory.
I'm thrilled it is still in there
The force of the throw was unexpected by me and my partner
But isn't a fall always unexpected?
A past training accident taught me the need to learn to fall.
Protect your head and parts that break by absorbing the force with your large muscles.
Valuable for each and every one of us.
Grateful for the reminder that what I do is real.
It applies to daily life.
When life tosses me around, I can roll with it.
